June 10, 2025
Only two more weeks to go until LASER. What’s the state of play, and what highlights can visitors expect this year?
The final preparations are in full swing and the excitement is rising—in the team and among the participants. We are proud to have achieved a new exhibitor record and to be able to welcome over 1,350 companies from 43 countries to the five halls. LASER 2025 is definitely a must-attend event for the industry, as it will once again showcase the entire photonics spectrum, both in terms of products and solutions and as far as the variety of topics and internationality are concerned. One highlight is certainly the extensive supporting program, which offers plenty of space to talk with experts. New formats here include the Integrated Photonics Applications forum with lectures on the importance of integrated photonics for telecommunications and AI, as well as the special show “Photonics Meets Robotics: AI Success Stories”. Another highlight is a visit to the two co-located trade fairs World of Quantum and automatica.
Which topics and trends currently driving the industry will the trade fair reflect in particular?
LASER will once again impressively demonstrate that many innovations would not be possible at all without photonics, which is therefore rightly considered to be one of the central future industries of the German economy. That’s also confirmed by a recent study conducted by the German industry association Spectaris in cooperation with the FutureManagementGroup. A major topic will be secondary sources and laser fusion, which Prof. Constantin Häfner will also talk about in a lecture on June 24 at 10:30 (Forum A2). Other trending topics include biophotonics, artificial intelligence and integrated photonics. In economically challenging times, world-leading trade fairs like LASER are important platforms for promoting international dialogue and providing new impetus. We are delighted that the international community will be gathering with us again to shape the future of photonics with renewed vigor and looking ahead.
World of Quantum and automatica will be held together with LASER. What added value does that offer?
The topics of quantum technology, robotics and automation are the ideal addition to what LASER has to offer. There are many synergies with World of Quantum, since quantum technology is largely based on photonics and uses precision lasers and photonics components for many of its applications. We even offer special guided tours on the subject of quantum technology for exhibitors at the parallel trade fairs. There are also many overlaps between LASER and automatica, as laser processes such as cutting, welding or image processing are an important part of automated production lines. At the same time, robotics and AI boost the profitability of many laser applications. With this trio of trade fairs, we bring together international expertise from different sectors and promote interdisciplinary exchange. To make it easier for you to see the bigger picture, I recommend our app to organize your trade fair visit and keep track of everything.
